Chubais organized sponsors of the Center for Russian Studies in Israel

The ex-head of Rusnano and former special representative of the Russian President Anatoly Chubais organized a group of sponsors of the Center for Russian Studies in Tel Aviv. The project will study the modern history of Russia after 1991 – economic, political, social and cultural. This was reported by Tel Aviv University, where the center is located.

According to message university, the project will be non-political in nature. Its participants will explore the possible future of Russia based on the events of the recent past.

Among the researchers of the project are Russian publicist Alexander Baunov, sociologist Viktor Vakhshtain, Kommersant journalist Dmitry Butrin, literary critic Alexander Arkhangelsky.

Chubais himself comments journalist Alexei Venediktov said that for the second time in 35 years Russia is “changing the vector of development to the opposite.” “It is very important now to rise above emotions, personal destinies, political preferences and try to re-understand our recent history so as not to repeat the mistakes made. This is the only way to learn lessons that will be truly in demand in the future,” said the former head of Rusnano “.

In early 2022, shortly after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Chubais resigned as special presidential envoy and left Russia, but did not publicly condemn the war. Vladimir Putin commented on Chubais’s departure, saying that he “fled” from the country and called him “Moshe Izrailevich.”
