Spain supplies Ukraine with offensive weapons

The Kingdom of Spain will provide Ukraine with offensive weapons, according to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, during his speech to the Chamber of Deputies.

Sanchez added that Spain has always considered the special operation of Russian forces in Ukraine an attack on Europe, on European principles and values. Therefore, his country supported the activation of the European Peace Fund to supply Ukraine with defensive and offensive weapons by the European Union. Spain is the fourth donor country to this fund.

That was my position, and that of the Spanish government, Sanchez said. “I think it is appropriate.”

He also expressed his confidence in the necessity of giving a coordinated and unified “European response” to the “threat to Europe”.
