Ras Al Khaimah celebrates International Museum Day

Ras Al Khaimah, May 18 / WAM / The Department of Antiquities and Museums in Ras Al Khaimah participated with state institutions in celebrating International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 of each year.

In this regard, the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum organized a number of activities with the aim of increasing awareness of its importance and providing the opportunity for generations to view its historical and heritage collections in an enjoyable atmosphere.

The National Museum is considered a witness to the ancient history of Ras Al Khaimah, reflecting a clear picture of the emirate’s past. The Department of Antiquities and Museums was keen to restore and renew large parts of it as part of its plan to develop and activate its role as one of the country’s distinguished museums filled with ancient history.

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is distinguished by its many castles and forts of different shapes that confirm its antiquity, its cultural continuity, and its penetration into history. There are (18) squares in the emirate distributed throughout its various regions. These castles and forts are considered among the most important elements of tourist attraction and components of historical tourism.
