US withdraws from cybersecurity talks with Russia

Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Oleg Khramov, in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, said that the United States had stopped cooperation with Russia on cybersecurity and closed the communication channel.

“Now we have informed the White House that it is unilaterally withdrawing from the negotiation process and closing the channel of communication,” he said.

He explained that after suppressing the activities of the REvil hacker group in February of this year, Russia sent proposals to the White House on the start of joint actions of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and the US National Security Council. To protect the critical infrastructure of both countries from the devastating effects.

According to Kramov, as part of the work of the joint group between the Kremlin and the White House, the two parties exchanged lists of objects of critical information infrastructure in both countries.

Earlier, Group-IB said it was too early to talk about the complete liquidation of the REvil hacker group.
