Stoltenberg: China’s refusal to condemn Russia is a challenge to NATO

The NATO Secretary General said Beijing’s refusal to condemn Russia’s special operation in Ukraine is a challenge to NATO.

“We see China’s reluctance to condemn Russian aggression,” Stoltenberg said. “This is a serious challenge to all of us. We will rally to protect our values.”

He stressed that NATO member states had already agreed to “continue coordinated pressure on Russia to put an end to senseless military actions.”

Earlier, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Zhang Jun, during a meeting of the Security Council on Ukraine, called on the United States, NATO and the European Union to start a comprehensive dialogue with Russia on security issues in order to develop a balanced regional security mechanism.
