US arms stocks will run out in a few months

Military experts warned at a congressional hearing that the country’s weapons stocks could run out within a few months if the Biden administration continues sending them to Ukraine.

“This is a major threat to our security,” Elaine Lord, the former undersecretary of defense for acquisitions and logistics, said at the hearing.

According to the data you cited, the United States sent to Ukraine almost a quarter of its stockpile of Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems.

The head of the Professional Services Council, David Bertow, in turn, added that since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the United States “has put almost a third of the available stockpile of weapons in readiness.” At the same time, contracts to replenish its resources have not yet been concluded.

At the same time, the heads of US defense establishments fear that the increased production of weapons for transfer to Ukraine may lead to the fact that after the end of the special operation, the products they produced will not be claimed. One corporate chief stated that they “don’t want to be stuck in warehouses full of unsellable inventory, without a guaranteed buyer.”

Gregory Hayes, CEO of Raytheon Technologies, noted that the stockpile of components for production of Stinger air defense systems is currently “extremely limited”.
