This coincides with the World Metrology Day, where the Council, represented by the Emirates Institute of Metrology, in partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, celebrated World Metrology Day in Masdar City under the title, “We Measure Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.” In the presence of a number of prominent bodies and figures in the field of metrology and measurements, and the participation of a number of representatives of the government and private sectors, experts, specialists and academics in the field of metrology. Standards are the basis for industry, fair trade, innovation, health and environmental protection, and the UAE’s commitment to developing its capabilities and promoting quality and advanced standards, as it enjoys global recognition in the field of metrology, and the Emirates Institute of Metrology is considered one of the important arms in achieving this, through developing local capabilities and enhancing scientific research and innovation in The field of metrology, where it adopts and clarifies the critical importance of standards in promoting sustainable development and ensuring the quality of products and services provided by the country. In the Year of Sustainability, the UAE is considered a pioneer in the field of achieving sustainable development, and strives to preserve the environment and enhance quality and innovation in all sectors. On this occasion, His Excellency Saeed Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Emirates Institute of Metrology, said: “Celebrating World Standards Day highlights the importance of adopting accurate measurements in various fields, such as the environment, energy, industry and trade.” He explained that standards contribute to improving the quality of life of individuals and encouraging sustainable development across the world. At the global level, it plays a crucial role in promoting innovation and developing sustainable economies. The United Arab Emirates attaches great importance to enhancing its capabilities in the field of metrology and its practical applications, and is committed to enhancing scientific research and adopting advanced technology to achieve sustainable progress and promote comprehensive development in the country and at the global level. For her part, Her Excellency Dr. Farah Al Zarouni, Assistant Undersecretary for the Standards and Legislation Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, confirmed that the Ministry believes in the ability of the national quality infrastructure system in the UAE to support sustainability in the industrial and technological sector and stimulate innovation to reach more competitive products. The slogan of World Metrology Day, “We measure today for a sustainable tomorrow,” comes to reinforce the key role of measurement in the sustainability system. Providing a scientific basis upon which to make the right decision based on data and develop policies in the field of sustainability. The role of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology comes to set the main lines for requirements for precise measurements in the industry, health care and environment sectors through legislation prepared by the Ministry and its partners, and to support and unify the concepts of sustainable industrial production by harmonizing specifications with international best practices.
