Paul Kent: Fox Sports NRL commentator is visited by friends and a doctor carrying a medical case after TV star was involved in wild brawl – as neighbours slam ‘revolving door’ party house

EXCLUSIVE

Sport journalist Paul Kent has been visited by an entourage of friends and a doctor after he smacked his head on the road during a wild brawl – before his supporters staged a bizarre diversion to help him evade media waiting outside his home.

The Fox Sports commentator was suspended from his role on NRL360 on Sunday after footage posted online showed Kent fighting with a younger man outside of Rozelle venue Totti’s, in Sydney’s inner-west, on Saturday night.

In the clip, the 54-year-old can be heard calling out ‘doghead’ before charging towards the other man, who throws the TV presenter head-first into a gutter.

Kent, who was stood down by the broadcaster for nine months after being charged with assaulting and choking his ex-girlfriend, had only been reinstated as a co-host of the show in February after being acquitted in court.

Five friends, each driving separate cars, rocked up consecutively at Kent’s Lilyfield home in Sydney’s inner-west on Sunday morning – just moments after news broke that the journalist had been suspended.

The first man to arrive could be seen suspiciously surveying the street for journalists before walking into Kent’s $2.35million property, clutching a small white paper bag filled with supplies.

Once the men were inside, a sixth man – a doctor – arrived at the home in a black Mercedes. Kent’s friends then ushered the medic, who was carrying a stethoscope and bag filled with medical supplies, into the property via a back laneway.

Around 40 minutes later, one of the men – who had been observed walking into the home perfectly fine – exited the home limping with a shirt covering his head to hide his face – in what appeared to be a bid to pretend he was Kent.

He then erected a wooden board in the narrow passageway that runs alongside the property to obscure the view of the back garage door, which opens into a rear laneway.

The man then began limping at a glacial pace up the passageway towards reporters, before getting half way then turning back towards the house.

Aware the odd ploy was a decoy, reporters raced around to the back laneway, where Kent was spotted being spirited away from the scene in the passenger’s seat of a friend’s ute.

After Kent left, his supporters slowly began trickling out of the property themselves.

Two friends said Kent was doing ‘good’ but would not comment on what caused the fight.

One of the men joked that Kent had left home to go to the Garry Owen Hotel – a pub the commentator frequents in Rozelle – to ‘have a drink’.

Another friend who visited the home told Daily Mail Australia Kent was ‘doing ok’ but was ‘sick of being called names’ by ‘people in the street’ who had heard about the melee.

‘He’s just a bit sore,’ the man said.

‘He’d like some privacy.’

NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday morning that they were aware of the video and have since launched an investigation.

Police also confirmed that officers attended the scene of the melee which took place on Evans Street about 11.20pm on Saturday night.

‘As part of this investigation, officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command have spoken with a number of people and have secured CCTV,’ a statement read.

Meanwhile, neighbours have revealed there are frequently loud parties at Kent’s home which rage into the early morning hours.

One woman told Daily Mail Australia there is always a ‘revolving door’ of people trailing in and out of Kent’s property – including both men and women.

‘The parties are always so loud and they go on and on,’ she said.

The woman said she has called police several times in the past due to the raucous gatherings.

Another neighbour said she was kept up late last month due to loud music blasting until 2am on a Saturday morning.

However, neighbours said the house has been quiet over the weekend and they have not observed any police officers visiting the home.

The scandal erupted after footage of the brutal brawl began circulating on X on Sunday morning.

In the video, Kent’s associates could be seen attempting to intervene before he began trading blows with the other man in the middle of the street.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a spokesperson said: ‘Fox Sports presenter and News Corp Australia columnist Paul Kent has been stood down pending an immediate investigation.’

Kent was stood down from his News Corp newspaper column and his role on NRL360 in 2023 after he was charged with common assault and intentionally choking a person without consent.

He was found not guilty of allegations he attacked and choked his then-partner Lucy Kennedy, 33, at his home in Sydney’s inner west on December 12.

Following a two-day hearing in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, Magistrate Daniel Reiss told the court he could not find the charges proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Kent, who drove limousines for a Sydney funeral business while he awaited trial, told media he was eager to return to a ‘normal life’ following his acquittal in December.

‘The judge accepted what happened to the point that my barrister was not even required to make a final summation,’ he said at the time.

‘It’s been seven months I’ve had to sit there and feel like I’ve been unfairly arrested [and] unfairly charged, and I’ve had to sit there and have our public reputation lacerated by people who have used it as an opportunity.

‘The truth is out there, finally. It’s been a big cost to me, it’s been a big set back in my life. But, we’ve all got our struggles in life.

‘This is my one currently, so it’s up to me now to regroup and get back to my normal life. I can finally leave this all behind.’
