‘Young Sheldon’ Series Finale Hits Four-Year Audience High

Young Sheldon went out with a bang. Or, should we say, a bazinga.

The Big Bang Theory prequel series wrapped things up on Thursday night, and the two-episode finale scored 8.95M viewers, according to live + same-day Nielsen data.

Not only was it the top broadcast of the night, it was also the most-watched episode of Young Sheldon in four years — since the Season 3 finale in April 2020. That episode managed 10.15M same-day viewers.

The finale audience is also pretty significantly above Season 7’s audience average, which is sitting right around 7M viewers per episode. Clearly, audiences were eager to see how things would end.

Streaming on Paramount+ was also up 39% over the week prior and 50% versus a year ago. It marked a season high for Young Sheldonbut Paramount didn’t give more specifics than that.

The May 16 finale featured plenty of nostalgia and a heartfelt sendoff for young Sheldon Cooper, played for the last seven seasons by Iain Armitage. Read more about the finale here.

Of course, the journey isn’t over yet. CBS is already teasing its upcoming prequel of the prequel series, Mandy and Georgie.
