US confirms readiness to expand military exercises with South Korea

US President Joe Biden and South Korean leader Yoon Seok-yeol have agreed to discuss the possibility of expanding joint military exercises due to the growing threat from North Korea. This was stated in the parties’ statement after the summit in Seoul, according to media reports.

“In view of the growing threat from the DPRK, the two leaders agreed to start discussions on expanding the scope of joint military exercises on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity,” the statement read.

It is also noted that the leaders of the two countries confirmed the readiness of the United States, if necessary, to deploy American strategic military assets.

In addition, the United States and South Korea have agreed to cooperate in countering the threat from North Korea in cyberspace.
