Benedict Cumberbatch stars in a film about a peasant uprising in England

Benedict Cumberbatch, 45, has joined the cast of the upcoming movie The Hood, directed by Paul Greengrass, who is best known for filming the second and third installments of the Jason Bourne series, as well as Academy Award-winning Captain Phillips.

It will be a historical drama about a peasant uprising in England, shot in the spirit of “Braveheart” and “Gladiator”.

Greengrass is also writing the script, and Cumberbatch will play the leader of the uprising. This will be the first collaboration between the director and the actor.

The rights to the upcoming film are sold out at the Film Market at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which takes place on the Cote d’Azur from May 17-28.
