The Head of State and the President of the European Council discuss by telephone the efforts made towards developments in the region
ABU DHABI, 21st May / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him” today, during a phone call, discussed with His Excellency Charles Michel, President of the Council of the European Union, various aspects of cooperation and joint work between the UAE, the Union and its member states, and the possibilities Strengthening it in a way that serves the common interests of both sides, within the framework of the strong relations between the UAE and the European Union countries and the mutual keenness to continue developing them.
During the call, His Highness and the President of the European Council reviewed the latest developments in the dangerous situation taking place in the Middle East region and the efforts made towards the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, in addition to working to establish an immediate ceasefire in the Strip. In this context, they stressed the need for calm and urgent action by the international community to push Towards the path of just, comprehensive and lasting peace that is based on the “two-state solution” in a way that preserves the security and stability of the region.
During the call, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness to cooperate with all parties, including the European Union, in order to enhance the response to the increasingly worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of sufficient and sustainable aid to its residents… stressing the priority of preserving lives. civilians and intensifying efforts aimed at an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to avoid expanding the circle of conflict in the region, threatening its security and stability.
His Highness the President expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the European Union to support international humanitarian efforts aimed at delivering relief aid to the Gaza Strip.
For his part, the President of the European Union Council expressed his thanks and appreciation for the UAE’s humanitarian role in providing humanitarian aid through various possible methods to the residents of the Gaza Strip, stressing the Union’s keenness to continue its cooperation with the UAE in this regard to enhance humanitarian efforts in the Strip.
