US Senate blocks $48 billion in aid for small businesses

The US Senate has blocked $48 billion in aid for small businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hill noted that the vote on the allocation of funds took place on May 19. The bill itself failed to get the 60 votes it needed to move forward.

Opponents of the bill pointed out that allocating additional funds would lead to faster inflation and budget deficits.
