Rape of women on British military bases rises more than 50%
The total number of attacks against female employees on British military bases has risen by more than 50% since 2015.
According to the Daily Record, in 2021, 239 sex crimes were solved in the barracks and 40 were investigated, while in 2015 there were 173.
The Ministry of Defense said that last year 96 soldiers appeared before a military court on sexual charges, 59 of whom were convicted.
The rise comes despite the Department of Defense putting up posters in barracks reminding soldiers of the need to obtain their consent to have sex, the Daily Record notes.
