A delegation from the Fujairah government participates in the meeting of city leaders and mayors within the World Energy Conference in the Netherlands
Rotterdam, April 28 / WAM / A delegation from the Fujairah government participated in the first meeting of the round table of city leaders and mayors from members of the World Energy Council network and non-members from various participating countries, which was held on the sidelines of the 26th World Energy Conference, which was hosted by the city of Rotterdam during the period from April 22 to 25.
The table was chaired by His Excellency Ahmed Abu Talib, Mayor of Rotterdam, during which the delegation discussed many common issues, regarding the transformations of global energy systems, and how to achieve the goals of the COP28 conference outcomes.
The participants discussed opportunities to redesign ecosystems to remove carbon in a balanced manner between the environment and humans, which enhances the quality of life for about 10 billion people on the planet, in a way that does not conflict with the goals of sustainable development and the plans of the cities participating at the meeting table.
The members discussed the challenges they face in cities, and how to transform them into opportunities that can be exploited to find the best solutions towards various long-term energy transformations, in light of the constantly increasing energy needs, and the need to meet them in a safe and effective manner that is consistent with urban and national priorities and plans.
The participants agreed on recommendations and cooperation models that go beyond the traditional alliances followed by cities in light of the World Energy Council’s adoption of following up on the implementation of the meeting’s recommendations and outcomes in coordination with participating countries from inside and outside the network.
