Brussels, 16 May / WAM / Military leaders in the 27 European Union countries elected Lieutenant General Sean Clancy, Chief of Staff of the Irish Army, to assume the presidency of the Union Military Committee – the highest military body in the European Union, headquartered in Brussels – during a secret ballot after a strong competition with the candidate from Slovenia.
