iPhone factory shutdown in China for seven days and workers trapped inside –

A number of China’s largest companies, including iPhone maker Foxconn, have been forced to move their factories in Shenzhen to a seven-day “closed cycle” by order of the country’s authorities, Bloomberg reports.

This means that companies will continue to operate, but workers cannot leave to avoid contact with people outside the factory.

This measure is designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 after another outbreak in China.

The restrictions also affected Huawei, ZTE and DJI, as well as oil and gas company Cnooc Ltd. Manufacturers have also been asked to reduce contact between office workers and factory workers to limit the spread of infection.

A Foxconn spokesman said the Shenzhen facility was operating “as usual”. It is known that the production of the new generation of iPhone, as a rule, begins in the summer, so any problems at the factories can lead to a delay in the supply of new devices.

The iPhone 14 line is expected to be presented in the fall at Apple’s traditional show.
