Extending the receipt of applications for participation in the competition "Make in UAE for startups" Until May 5

Abu Dhabi, April 29 / WAM / The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology invited emerging technology companies from all over the world to participate in the “Make in the Emirates Startup Competition” in the UAE, and decided to extend the application period for the award until the fifth of next May.

This qualitative competition aims to enhance the opportunities for emerging technology companies, highlight their innovations, and provide means of communication for them with investors and financing bodies, in a way that supports growth and competitiveness efforts in areas such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and carbon removal and reduction in the industrial sector, by supporting emerging companies and enhancing cooperation, partnership, and financing. Between companies and entities.

The “Make in the Emirates Startup” competition also aims to support and empower companies in the field of advanced technology and solutions for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in a way that enhances technological transformation in the industrial sector, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Advanced Industry and Technology, and the strategic objectives, especially promoting innovation and adopting advanced technology. in industrial systems and solutions, and strengthening the UAE’s position as a global destination for pioneering future industries.

Startups can apply for the “Make in the Emirates Startups” 2024 competition through the link until next May 5th, especially companies working in 3D printing solutions in various industries, such as aviation, healthcare, automobiles, electronics, energy, custom manufacturing, decarbonization, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. and digitalization for decarbonisation, as well as carbon capture and storage.

The Ministry announced the competition last March and includes emerging companies with high potential and rapid growth that have demonstrated a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of the industry and promoting sustainable practices through advanced technologies, in accordance with specific criteria.

The competition is consistent with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology to support innovation and accelerate the adoption of advanced technology and sustainable development.

His Excellency Tariq Al Hashemi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Advanced Technology Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said: “In support of the vital role of startup companies, the Ministry launched the “Make in the Emirates for Startup” competition to enable entrepreneurs to obtain capabilities and competitive financing solutions, as well as explore ways of cooperation. And the incentives and enabling factors within the advanced technology system in the UAE.”

He added that by participating in the competition, emerging companies in the Emirates and around the world have the opportunity to enhance their visibility, as well as attract potential investors and partners, which supports the global shift towards a more sustainable industrial model. He explained that these companies have an essential role, especially as they focus on specific challenges and work to achieve Employing rapid innovations to bring about radical change in the industrial sector and promote transformations in it.”

He stated that this event is consistent with the commitment of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology to sponsor companies and promote a positive environment for comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, in line with the objectives of the “Make in the UAE” initiative to enhance the UAE’s position as a global center for innovation and its initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.”

The competition is open to local and international startups and will be held during the third session of the “Make in the UAE” Forum, which will be held on May 27 and 28 at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center.

Companies will be evaluated based on innovation, market potential and alignment with competition categories that provide a platform for these companies to connect with industry partners, investors and policy makers, in addition to gaining insights from experts and interacting with leaders in a supportive entrepreneurial environment.

The event also provides the opportunity for startups to continue developing and disseminating their technologies in the UAE by showcasing their pioneering innovations that can support the green transformation of the industry in line with the UAE’s strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The competition includes an optional bootcamp where eligible startups participate in mentorship sessions with industry experts and entrepreneurs to improve their offerings and strategies.

The top three winners in each category will receive financial prizes and opportunities to work with industrial partners on pilot projects.

The competition is one of several initiatives launched within the “Make in the Emirates” initiative and aims to attract investors, industrialists and innovators to the UAE to benefit from the competitive advantages that the country enjoys.

In its third session, the “Make in the UAE” Forum is expected to attract wide participation from decision makers and officials in the government sector, the private sector, international and local private companies, experts, entrepreneurs, financing bodies, investors, emerging companies and small and medium-sized companies.
