Sam Kerr posts revealing message as she lashes out at how Kate Middleton has been treated in light of her shock cancer diagnosis

Matildas captain Sam Kerr has commented on the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis by sharing a musician’s remarks that blasts trolls who sensationalised ‘a woman’s desire for privacy’.

Kate Middleton, 42, announced on Saturday that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer that was found following her abdominal surgery last month.

Messages of support have come from across the world, with Kensington Palace declaring the princess and her husband William are ‘enormously touched’ by the public’s kindness.

Kerr took to Instagram on Saturday night to share a post from American singer and songwriter Halsey, that criticised trolls who shamed Middleton for being absent.

‘Hope the people and media who sensationalised a woman’s desire for privacy following a known health incident are experiencing regret and remorse,’ Halsey wrote.

‘And by the way, that would stand even without the terrible news of her journey.

‘I understand that when you have a public life certain things like this can get out of hand. But god forbid someone needs a break for a few weeks or months, it’s no one’s business why.’

‘And with respect to public life, who you are and how you’re doing when you ‘sign up for this’ is subject to change at any moment,’ she said.

‘Any the newly changed ‘you’ in place (for whatever amount of time; days, weeks, years) may not have the same stamina or tolerance.’

Kerr has been keeping a low profile since her bombshell racial harassment charge became public.

The Matildas and Chelsea striker’s legal drama – as exclusively revealed by the Mail – means she is set to face a criminal trial before a jury in February next year.

The story broke on March 5, and Kerr has made no public comment on her shocking start to the year, which has also seen her dream of representing Australia at the Paris Olympics all but ruined by a serious knee injury she suffered in January.

Meanwhile, the King, undergoing his own cancer battle, has praised 42-year-old Kate’s bravery in filming the emotional video at Windsor.

In it, she revealed her ‘huge shock’ at the cancer discovery and said she and William had done all they could to ‘process and manage this privately’ for the sake of their three children.

Politicians and celebrities joined members of the public in sending messages of support, while cancer experts said Kate’s powerful message would help other families fighting the disease.

Hashtags including ‘WeLoveYouCatherine’ and ‘GetWellSoonCatherine’ were trending on social media site X all day yesterday.

Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother, said Kate showed ‘incredible strength and poise’ in her video message.
