Romelu Lukaku offers five-word response on Chelsea future after the forgotten Blues forward starred in Belgium’s draw with England

Romelu Lukaku deflected a question about his Chelsea future after his impressive performance in Belgium’s 2-2 draw with England on Tuesday night.

The 30-year-old is spending a second consecutive season away from Stamford Bridge on loan, with Mauricio Pochettino not finding a place in his squad for the forward.

Lukaku offered a reminder of his talent on his return to England as he captained Belgium at Wembley.

He delivered a superb cross with the outside of his left foot to pick out Youri Tielemans in the first half.

Lukaku’s cross gave Tielemans the simpliest task to head in his and Belgium’s second goal in the 36th minute.

Lukaku was asked by Sky Sports post match whether he had an additional desire to impress on his return to England.

The Belgian star responded by laughing, before offering the comment ‘You’ll have to ask Chelsea.’

Lukaku still has two years left to run on his £325,000 per week at Chelsea.

The forward signed a five-year deal with the Blues when returning to the club in a £97.5million move from Inter Milan back in 2021.

He mustered 15 goals in 44 appearances for Chelsea before falling out with then manager Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku returned to Inter Milan on loan the following season and scored 14 goals, while he has spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Roma.

The 30-year-old has scored 18 goals in 37 matches this season for the Serie A side, who have their sights set on reaching back-to-back Europa League finals.
