Latrell charged over ugly Addo-Carr incident

Latrell Mitchell has been charged by the NRL judiciary for an ugly incident that saw Josh Addo-Carr knocked out on Good Friday.

The 26-year-old rushed across to save a try and collected Addo-Carr in the head with his hip, but was not penalised or placed on report during the game.

Mitchell has been hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge and will be fined $1800 with an early guilty plea, but risks a $2500 fine if he fights it and loses.

NRL legend Andrew Johns saw no major issues with the challenge from the Souths superstar at the time, despite the impact and Addo-Carr being knocked out.

“All accidental, he just gets his head caught up,” he said during Nine’s coverage.

“I don’t think there’s anything illegal in it.”

Mitchell’s fine is on the higher-end of the scale due to his previous on-field indiscretions, but will not be suspended regardless of any guilty plea or verdict.
