Motorcyclist is killed in Sydney police chase

A young motorcyclist has been killed in a police pursuit.

New South Wales Police have launched a critical incident investigation after the fatal crash in Sydney’s west about 2.30pm on Monday.

Police claim an officer from its Traffic and Highway Patrol unit attempted to stop a motorcycle on Arthur Street in Strathfield.

However, the driver failed to stop so police began pursuing the vehicle.

In the first few minutes of the chase, the motorcycle driver – a man believed to be aged in his 20’s – clipped the side of a Toyota Corolla while trying to overtake it.

The smash caused him to lose control of his bike and he crashed into a power pole.
