A rail pass at 49 euros per month for those under 27 will be well experienced in "all the regions" this summer, announces the Minister of Transport
The minister won his bet. “All the regions” French authorities have finally agreed to set up this summer a “pass rail” reserved for those under 27, Minister Delegate for Transport Patrice Vergriete told AFP on Wednesday April 3. “The situation has just become clearer now”declared the minister, who had deplored at the start of the day that three regional presidents had not given the green light to this package.
Hervé Morin (Normandy), Xavier Bertrand (Hauts-de-France) and Laurent Wauquiez (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) finally accepted the government’s proposal. The establishment of a rail pass, a monthly pass allowing unlimited travel within the territory on Intercity and TER trains, based on the model of what Germany does, was promised in September by President Emmanuel Macron.
“This summer’s experiment will concern 700,000 young people under the age of 27”, specifies the ministry to France Télévisions. The price of the package will be 49 euros per month, “the lack has increased cost for the regions will be covered 80% by the State”specifies the same source.
