Indonesia sends aid worth 30 billion rupiah to residents of Gaza and Sudan

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, today, Wednesday, sent humanitarian aid worth 30 billion rupees (about 1.89 million dollars) to the peoples of Palestine and Sudan.

 

In the farewell ceremony held at the Halim base Perdanakusuma Air Force in Jakarta, Widodo noted that the assistance is a form of the Indonesian government’s commitment to maintaining world peace, according to the Indonesian Antara news agency. Jokowi said: “The government is committed to maintaining world peace and actively participating in humanitarian missions for crises caused by wars and natural disasters.”

 

He added that the Indonesian people are concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine, and the internal conflict in Sudan that claimed the lives of many victims. He explained, “The aid sent today amounts to 30 billion rupees, in the form of medicines and health equipment, in addition to other aid specifically designed to meet field needs.” The Indonesian government expected that assistance for civilians affected by the conflicts in Palestine and Sudan would arrive in Cairo and Port Sudan, Sudan, tomorrow, Thursday.
