On the night of Thursday, April 4, Russian troops attacked Kharkov with attack drones. This was announced by the head of the Kharkov regional administration Oleg Sinegubov.

The Suspilne Kharkov publication reports that there were at least three explosions.

The drones flew to the Kharkov region from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said. At 01:11, the military warned of another group of attack drones flying in the direction of Kharkov. reports UNIAN.

On the evening of April 3, Russian troops struck Merefa, Kharkov region, UNIAN reports. According to preliminary data, the enemy used the Kh-59MK anti-ship missile during the attack. The Kharkov regional prosecutor’s office reported that one person was injured as a result of the shelling.

Soon the mayor of Kharkov Igor Terekhov reported about the three dead rescue workers:

“There are already three dead, preliminary – all employees of the State Emergency Service who came to eliminate the consequences of the shelling of residential buildings.”

The Russian military strikes Kharkov almost daily. In March, attacks were reported on the largest energy facilities in Kharkov and the region – CHPP-5 and Zmievskaya TPP. They reportedly suffered extensive damage. Electricity in Kharkov is now supplied according to schedule.

In recent days, it has been reported that the Russian military has begun dropping guided bombs on the city for the first time since 2022.

According to the mayor, despite the shelling and the threat of a blackout, about 1.3 million residents remain in the city, several hundred thousand less than before the war. Neither the authorities nor the military yet see the need for evacuation from Kharkov. According to Terekhov, the Russian side is spreading rumors about the evacuation “to intimidate and make the townspeople nervous.” The mayor assured that “there is no panic in the city.”

Russian troops tried to take Kharkov in the early days of a large-scale invasion in February-March 2022. Subsequently, the front line stabilized, and in September 2022, Russian troops retreated beyond the state border.
