"Differently capable" President Sisi thanks him for his interest in player Abdel Rahman Bahgat after he qualified for the Paris Paralympics
Engineer Amal Mobdi, President of the Sports Federation for Mental Disabilities, confirmed that the excellence of the capable players with differences came as a result of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s interest in these heroes, his care for them, and his belief in their abilities, which he celebrates them every year, especially after the player, Abdel-Rahman Bahjat, qualified as the first player in history with disabilities. Mental abilities qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Amal Mabadi and the Board of Directors also thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, for his support for the player and the federation.
Abdul Rahman Bahjat became the first player with a mental disability. He qualifies for the Paralympic Games in table tennis, where he succeeded The Egyptian Paralympic table tennis team player, in ensuring his presence in the Olympic Games that will be held in Paris next August in the 11th category competitions.
This came after Abdel Rahman ranked first in Africa in the 11th category according to the classification issued. On behalf of the International Federation on April 1, he becomes the first player in the history of people with mental disabilities to participate in the Paralympic Games.
It is noteworthy that Abdul Rahman ranks forty-fifth in the world and first in Africa, and the International Federation’s regulations stipulate that a player from each continent qualifies to be The Egyptian champion is the representative of the African continent in the Olympic Forum.
The player’s qualification comes within the framework of the federation’s strategic plan that it developed over the past seven years, from 2017 until now, through participation in local tournaments, preparation camps, and participation in international tournaments.
