Mo Salah not happy as he’s taken off by Jurgen Klopp after just 60 minutes with Liverpool chasing a winner against Sheffield United

Mohamed Salah was taken off against Sheffield United while the score remained level at Anfield on Thursday night.

The Egyptian looked visibly frustrated as Jurgen Klopp opted to replace him with Harvey Elliott on the hour mark.

Darwin Nunez gave the home side the lead early on before a Connor Bradley own goal saw the Reds pegged back by the bottom side.

Just two minutes later, Salah was one of two players to be replaced as Ryan Gravenberch was replaced by Andy Robertson.

Walking to the bench, Salah was shaking his head and looked disappointed before taking his seat.

However, Klopp’s decision paid off as Alexis Mac Allister restored the lead for the Reds on the 77th minute.

Liverpool remain in a tight title race with Manchester City and Arsenal and Klopp will be hoping that his decision to replace Salah can help keep the winger fresh ahead of a tough run in.

Speaking last month, Klopp backed his forward to continue his incredible goalscoring form from previous years.

He said: ‘In seven years together with him, the one problem we never had was consistency,’

‘Mo is just delivering and delivering and delivering, his desire doesn’t stop, his quality is there and his desire to score doesn’t stop.

‘He has improved in so many aspects since he started here. That’s how it is, he will not stop.

If the Reds are to lift the Premier League at the end of Klopp’s reign, they will need their star man to play his part.
