Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din

The US Treasury Department on April 4 announced the introduction of new anti-terrorism sanctions related to Iran. This time, the shipping company Oceanlink Maritime DMCC and 13 of its ships were subject to restrictions for their role in delivering goods from the Iranian military.

The United States is using sanctions to prevent Iran from funding its partners and “terrorist proxy groups,” as well as supporting Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine. stated Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Brian Nelson.

Also, according to Nelson, Washington intends to continue to use the full range of tools at its disposal to combat illicit flows of funds that contribute to Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region and around the world.

The US Treasury said in a statement that Oceanlink Maritime DMCC facilitated the supply of unspecified goods on behalf of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

Iran has a network of affiliated groups in the Middle East, including in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

American sanctions block all property under US jurisdiction. In addition, restrictive injunctions generally prohibit all transactions by persons in the United States that affect any property or interest in the property of the specified company.
