Iran again vowed to take revenge on Israel for the deaths of IRGC members

A funeral was held in Tehran on Friday for seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed in a suspected Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria.

How writes Reuters, state television showed demonstrators holding photographs of the dead and signs reading “Death to Israel” and “Death to America.” The Iranian authorities again promised to take revenge on Israel for the deaths of officers, including two IRGC generals.

“The decision to take revenge has been made, and it will definitely be carried out,” said former IRGC commander General Mohsen Rezaei.

The attack on the building of the consular department of the embassy took place on April 1. Among the dead are one of the key commanders of Iran’s special forces, the Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, his deputy, Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Rahimi, and five of their colleagues. In Iran they were called military advisers in Syria.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense reported that Israeli planes struck from the Golan Heights. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian called the attack on the consular department “a violation of all possible international conventions.” Iran has vowed to retaliate.

After this, the Israel Defense Forces suspended the furloughs of all military personnel of combat units and units, and the country also called up reservists of air defense units. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that his country would harm “anyone who harms us or plans to harm us.” Israel did not comment on the attack on the consular department.
