The Minister of Higher Education discusses enhancing cooperation with the European Union Ambassador to Egypt

Dr. received Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Mr. Christian Berger, European Union Ambassador to Cairo, at the private education building in New Cairo.

 

The Minister stressed the importance of close and fruitful cooperation relations between Egypt and the European Union. , especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research, pointing to the distinguished results that have been achieved as a result of many joint initiatives, programmes, grants and projects between the two parties, pointing out Egypt’s keenness to push this cooperation to further progress, especially in light of raising relations between Egypt and the European Union to the level of partnership. Strategic and comprehensive, and highlighting the priority of developing the “human element”.  

 

The Minister discussed with the European Union Ambassador mechanisms for maximizing benefit from the European Union’s expertise in applying the principles of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research within the framework of promoting mutual goals, noting  To the work plan undertaken by the Ministry to link scientific specializations and study programs with the needs of industry, and to create integration between universities within each region and industrial entities, within the “Alliance and Development” initiative.

 

He reviewed Dr. Ayman Ashour has multiple examples of efforts to enhance mutual cooperation, including cooperation with the Italian Don Bosco Institute to benefit from its long-standing experience in the field of technical education, as well as the French University development project, which aspires to increase the programs offered in the French language to attract students from African countries, pointing out that Egypt seeks to become An attractive educational platform to serve the Arab region, the Middle East and the African continent.

The two sides discussed ways of cooperation in qualifying and training graduates to suit the requirements of the local, regional and international labor market, especially technological education, which the Ministry considers an important tributary to providing qualified technicians to meet the needs of the local and regional market. And global, including the European market.

 

The two sides discussed working mechanisms to enhance cooperation in the European Union program to support higher education, especially the “Erasmus Plus” program. Which aims to provide individual scholarships to students and researchers in European countries, and to encourage student exchange, as well as the “Horizon Europe” program. To encourage scientific innovation, the Partnership for Research and Innovation Initiative in the Middle East “PRIMA” program, and other programs that support higher education and scientific research. 

 

The two sides also discussed Ways to maximize the benefit of grants provided by the European Union in line with the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the system of national contact points for the Horizon Program, and the possibility of opening contact points within universities to facilitate communication and build capabilities; And to ensure that the grants reach all those targeted.

For his part, Mr. Christian Berger expressed his aspiration to strengthen the partnership with Egypt in the next stage, especially in the field of education, training and qualification, pointing out the importance of developing a plan for the required jobs and training programs that students need. , which serves development projects in Egypt.

Berger also praised the great expansion that Egypt has undertaken in the higher education system, and its role in the region in all fields, stressing the European Union’s welcome of cooperation and the promotion of investment in the human element, especially in the fields of education. Higher education and scientific research.
