The United States and the European Union reaffirm commitment to strengthening transatlantic leadership in emerging technologies

Brussels, 5 April / WAM / The European Union and the United States of America affirmed their strong commitment to strengthening transatlantic leadership in the field of emerging technologies and the digital environment, facilitating bilateral trade and investment, and cooperation in the field of economic security.

This came during the sixth meeting of the European-American Trade and Technology Council, which was held today in the Belgian city of Louvain, in the presence of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, while the European Commission was represented by Executive Vice Presidents Margrethe Vestager and Valdis Dombrovskis. A statement issued after the meeting stressed that accelerating digital and green transformations opens opportunities for growth and innovation but also requires transatlantic cooperation towards a common approach.
