Dolphins hit with further blow as young gun banned

UPDATED: The Dolphins and Wests Tigers are counting the cost of a bruising clash after three head injury assessments and three players failed to return from injuries.

Dolphins forward Kurt Donoghoe has been hit with a two-match ban since the fixture after his grade two careless high tackle led to Samuela Fainu failing an HIA. Donoghoe could face a three-match suspension if he appeals and is found guilty at the judiciary.

Herbie Farnworth was the biggest concern for the Dolphins as he left the field late with what looked to be a pectoral issue as his side held on for a 26-16 win.

Felise Kaufusi left the field after 25 minutes and was the first player who failed to return but certainly wasn’t the last.

Kaufusi beat four defenders from inside the Dolphins’ half to break the line and set up Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow for a try.

However, the second-rower dropped to the ground untouched and notably looked to be in agony as he passed the ball to his fullback.

Kaufusi wasn’t the only player to be ruled out, with John Bateman and Fainu both failing HIAs for the Tigers.

Dolphins prop Josh Kerr also had to undergo a test, but passed his.
