Russia claims to have struck Ukraine "in response" attacks on its refineries

Russia affirmed, Friday April 5, that its recent massive strikes on Ukraine, which notably damaged the electricity network, had been carried out “in response” to Ukrainian attacks targeting refineries on Russian soil.

“From March 31 to April 5 of this year, the Russian armed forces carried out 39 group strikes (…) against facilities in the energy sector of Ukraine in response to attempts by the Kiev regime to damage installations in the oil, gas and energy sectors of Russia”the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

A recent Ukrainian attack targeted a major industrial site in Tatarstan, a region located more than 1,000 kilometers from the Russian border. Russian troops have carried out several bombings, damaging power plants and causing massive power outages.

Earlier in the day, Russia also claimed the capture of the village of Vodyane, west of the town of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine, continuing its slow advance against a Ukrainian army that lacks resources. men and ammunition.
