The percentage of early voting in the Korean parliamentary elections reaches a new record high

SEOUL, April 7, 2017 (WAM) – South Korea’s election monitoring body estimated early voter turnout in the parliamentary elections on Friday and Saturday at 31.28%, setting a new high record.

The Korean Yonhap News Agency reported that a total of 13,849,043 voters out of 44,280,011 eligible voters cast their votes in early voting for the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 10 in 3,565 polling stations across the country, according to preliminary data issued by the National Election Commission.

This is the first time that the early voting turnout for parliamentary elections has exceeded 30% since South Korea introduced the early voting system in 2014, and the early voting turnout for the previous parliamentary elections in 2020 was 26.69%.
