Under the patronage of the President of the State.. Tomorrow is the start of the annual final festival of purebred Arabian camel racing in Al Wathba

Abu Dhabi, April 10 / WAM / The 45th annual final festival of purebred Arabian camel racing will begin tomorrow at Al Wathba Square in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him.”

The festival, whose competitions continue until April 27, witnesses a large participation of camel owners from the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The final festival in Al Wathba, organized by the Camel Racing Federation, represents one of the most important heritage races in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as it is the basic building block for all festivals.

The festival completed 44 years of successes that continued as an extension of the approach of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, under the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office.

The first edition of the final annual camel racing festival was launched in 1980, and the current edition witnesses the establishment of 347 races, including 105 for the camels of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, 230 for the group’s camels, and 12 races allocated for the heritage race.

The festival begins with the Haqayeq competitions and the morning and evening races. The organizing committee has allocated 44 symbols that will be distributed in the main races of all categories for virgins and young women, including 8 symbols for the camels of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, and 36 symbols for the group’s camels.
