Kazakhstan evacuates 100,000 people due to floods

Astana, April 12 / WAM / The Ministry of Emergencies in Kazakhstan announced today that nearly 100,000 people have been evacuated due to floods.
The Ministry explained that the state of emergency is still in effect in eight of the 17 provinces, due to the massive floods sweeping vast areas of the country.
The Ural River, which passes through Kazakhstan and empties into the Caspian Sea, overflowed in the worst floods the region has witnessed in a century.
