Smithtown, Long Island, high school senior throws no-hitter in 3-0 win

SMITHTOWN, Long Island (WABC) — A Long Island high school senior threw a no-hitter Thursday.

Smithtown High School West senior Connor Catania was on the mound in a game against Hills East when he didn’t allow a hit in seven innings.

Catania had 13 strikeouts and also a three-run double, driving in all the runs in the 3-0 victory.

Catania called it a “team effort.”

“It was great, it was a team win because everyone kept making plays when they needed to. It was a great effort by everyone,” Catania said.

The senior missed most of last season due to a hand injury.
