The representative of the African House of Representatives praises the release of 3,438 from correctional centers on the occasion of Eid
Dr. Mohamed Salim, Undersecretary of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, praised the Ministry of the Interior’s organization of a celebration for inmates of correctional and rehabilitation centers, of whom 3,438 inmates were pardoned, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of the decision of the President of the Republic regarding the pardon for the remainder of the sentence for some convicts. Of the inmates, both male and female, of correctional and rehabilitation centers who fulfilled the conditions of the presidential pardon on the occasion of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr for the year 2024 AD.
"Salim" confirmed In a statement he issued today, the issue of releasing prisoners received the greatest attention from the Egyptian state during the era of President Sisi, indicating that the decision to release these inmates was a great relief to them and their families, and he considered this presidential decision as a positive step towards a real and effective national dialogue.
Dr. Mohamed Selim extended his greetings and appreciation to the government in general and Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of the Interior in particular, for the great efforts that have been made in rehabilitating, developing and modernizing correctional centers across the Republic, stressing that Egypt has begun to implement the concepts of human rights. The human being inside all the education and rehabilitation centers in its most wonderful form and in keeping with the latest international systems. The Community Protection Sector had held committees to examine the files of inmates at the republic level to determine those deserving of pardon for the remainder of the sentence. The committees’ work concluded that the decision applied to (3438) inmates who deserve to be released by pardon, during a celebration at the celebration hall headquarters of the Tenth of Ramadan Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
