Demetriou's defiant message as Meninga speaks out

Mal Meninga denied he had been approached by the South Sydney Rabbitohs to be their next coach as a defiant Jason Demetriou maintained he would be leading the Bunnies next week.

It came after Souths suffered a 34-22 loss at the hands of Cronulla on Saturday night, with alarm bells well and truly ringing for Demetriou.

The emotional coach was captured by cameras in the dressing room post-match with several players also looking distraught.

But Demetriou said he’s going nowhere, at least for the next week.

“I would expect so (that I’ll remain coach),” he said.

“Nobody has told me otherwise. We’ll review the game, turn up, if not, we’ll find out.”

Meanwhile, Kangaroos coach Meninga addressed the speculation.

“I haven’t had any conversations with the club at all, but for whatever reason I’ve seem to been attached to this,” Meninga said on Fox League.
