Stéphane Bern, his homosexuality well accepted by the French and show business? “Me, I do soft power”

Animator adored by the French, Stéphane Bern enjoys great popularity. But, behind his legendary smiles, does he sometimes feel homophobia? He speaks with frankness.

Stéphane Bern has been a key figure in the PAF for years. Also good for those nostalgic for Sagas only for those addicted to History Secrets and fans of Favorite village of the French. But has the 60-year-old presenter, specialist in crowned heads and Mr. Heritage of the government, ever had problems because of his homosexuality?

Stéphane Bern and his homosexuality: “I am not a standard bearer”

Recently guest of 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Stéphane Bern was received on France 2 by his colleague Laurent Delahousse. The latter then mentioned on the air that homophobic acts are increasing in France; recently in Lyon where two men who were kissing were very violently beaten. Yet at the same time, LGBT rights are progressing.

The host asked Stéphane Bern if it was complicated for him to come out to the media. “I do soft power, something light, I’m not a standard bearer. I’m not here to claim my privacy“, replied Stéphane Bern, who posed on the front page of Paris Match with his previous companion. Stéphane Bern, however, says he is happy to share simple moments of life, with his companion Yori Bailleres, on his Instagram account. It trivializes homosexuality because everyone can see that they are doing the same thing as a straight couple: traveling, shopping, having fun…”People are very positive. I never have a homophobic attack“, assures the one who will comment on Eurovision again next May.

Was Stéphane Bern really spared from homophobia?

Stéphane Bern considers that he has never been a victim of homophobia and that not everyone is so lucky. “I was lucky to have parents who, if not understanding, in any case let me live. I believe that it is more difficult in certain cities, certain neighborhoods to experience homosexuality“, he added, lucid about the situation of many young gay people in France, still in 2024.

In Léa Salamé’s show, What an era!Stéphane Bern had however related that his late mother had told him “I’d rather see you dead than gay” and he said that he had forgiven him afterwards despite the great violence of the remarks. In any case, that is perhaps his secret to living happily, is to forget the horrors and to keep only the Good. Today, the host is spending peaceful days with his darling in their house in Perche, for which he has fallen into heavy debt.
