The United Nations appointed Jordanian Muhannad Hadi as Deputy Coordinator of the Middle East Peace Process

New York, April 13, 2017 – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment of Jordanian expert Muhannad Hadi as the new Deputy Special Coordinator and Resident Coordinator of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO).
Guterres explained, in an official statement issued by his office, that Hadi will also serve as Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, succeeding James Eugene McGoldrick, from Ireland.
The statement noted that Hadi, who has worked since 2020 as the regional humanitarian coordinator for the Syrian crisis, has more than 30 years of extensive international experience in humanitarian affairs and development work.
Hadi previously served as the Regional Director of the World Food Program for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe during the period (2015-2020), and as the Regional Emergency Coordinator of the World Food Program for the Syrian crisis during the period (2012-2015), and as a representative of the World Food Programme. / Country Director in Syria during the period (2009-2012).
Hadi began his career in 1990 with the International Committee of the Red Cross and has since worked with the World Food Program in Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Indonesia, Lebanon, Italy, Jordan, Egypt and Syria.
Hadi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of Alabama in the United States of America, and a Graduate Award in Management and Business Studies from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.
