Deputy Sheikh: The comprehensive health insurance project is one of the most important strategies of the new republic for building the Egyptian human being

Senate Deputy Representative Phoebe Fawzi said that the comprehensive health insurance project is one of the most important strategies followed by the new republic under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to build and care for the Egyptian human being and to strengthen the necessary social and health protection network for all categories, in addition to the support it provides in the fields of education. This came during the Council’s consideration of a request for general discussion, submitted by Representative Muhammad Salah Al-Badri and twenty members; To clarify the government’s policy regarding “the challenges facing the comprehensive health insurance system and its prevalence rate with the start of implementation of the second phase in the moderately populated governorates.”

 

Fawzi added that the hope that is being achieved is Under the slogan “Better health for all categories of Egyptians” It was a far-fetched dream, and most optimists did not think it could be achieved. She pointed out that she personally witnessed the achievements achieved in Ismailia Governorate, which is one of the governorates in the first phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, and that the numbers of therapeutic services provided to patients from the governorate are expressive and significant. It is significant in quantity and quality, and it actually achieved the goal of social justice, as the comprehensive health insurance system bore the cost for all incapable groups and worked to provide full medical care to all families who were not likely to enjoy such an advanced health service.

Fawzi continued that the aim of today’s request for discussion is to learn closely about the system’s strategy to begin implementing comprehensive health insurance in the second phase, which includes governorates with a high population density and a different nature from the governorates of the first phase, which are predominantly urban. With the relative limited population, while ensuring the effectiveness of the financing mechanisms for the project, which depends on a variety of sources, including beneficiary subscriptions, state contributions, and some taxes and fees, in order to ensure the sustainability of the project, the adequacy of funding sources, and to ensure that it does not falter at any stage.
