NRL's worst-kept secret confirmed as Lomax departs

Zac Lomax will officially move to the Parramatta Eels in 2025, with the club confirming a four-year deal for the Dragons star.

After a lengthy contract saga, the 24-year-old will depart St George Illawarra at season’s end to take up a cut-price contract with the Eels.

Lomax will bring experience and versatility to the blue and gold backline, having scored 40 tries in 99 first grade appearances for the Red V since his debut in 2018.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, Eels chief executive Jim Sarantinos praised the outside back and believes he will bring plenty to the club in their bid to break a nearly four-decade premiership drought.

“Zac is a great talent and we’re confident he will be an invaluable addition to our team,” he said.

“He complements our existing playing squad, and with almost 100 NRL games to his name since his debut in 2018, his experience will help the strong group of young players coming through our pathways system.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Zac and his family to our club in 2025, but right now, season 2024 is our focus.”

Lomax has played on the wing in all six games for the Dragons this season, despite his desire to play in the centres, with his form pushing him into State of Origin contention.
