The court arrested business blogger Dmitry Portnyagin in a case of tax evasion

A court in Moscow placed popular business blogger and motivational coach Dmitry Portnyagin under house arrest on charges of tax evasion and money laundering. At the meeting, the prosecutor accused the blogger of supporting Ukraine, its President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, conveys “Caution News” correspondent.

Portnyagin is a well-known business coach in Russia, on his blog on YouTube signed almost one and a half million people. He is accused of evading taxes in the amount of 124 million rubles and laundering money unaccounted for by the tax authorities. He only pleaded guilty to the first charge. Another suspect in the case is the blogger’s wife, Ekaterina. She was detained but later released.

The blogger did not agree with the prosecutor’s statements. He said he carried humanitarian aid to Ukrainian territories claimed to be annexed by Moscow and contributed 10 million rubles to support the Russian military involved in the invasion of Ukraine. In Ukraine it accused in illegally visiting annexed Crimea.
