Volleyball Dynamo accused their victorious opponents of LGBT propaganda

The Moscow women’s volleyball club “Dynamo” accused its rivals from the Kaliningrad “Lokomotiv”, to which it lost the decisive match in the semi-finals of the Russian championship, of LGBT propaganda.

On Monday on the official Dynamo website a statement appeared under the heading “Stop tolerating this!”, which states that the Lokomotiv volleyball players during the game “demonstrated monstrous gestures imitating sexual intercourse, same-sex kisses on the lips and other abominations.”

“What’s worse is that all this is met with approval from teammates who dress up in satanic guise, while three of the Lokomotiv players are raising their own children!” Dynamo stated in a statement.

It also mentions that “the LGBT community in the Russian Federation is recognized at the legislative level as an extremist organization; propaganda of this deviation from traditional values among young people is prohibited.” And the statement ends with a mention of the war: “At a time when Russian lands and people are subjected to enemy bombing, when the best representatives of the country defend us with arms in hand, doctors, teachers, priests, workers of all the most complex labor-intensive professions are working for the benefit of our country – there will be to flourish like this? This will never happen! This can only cause universal condemnation and contempt!

A number of telegram channels drew attention to the fact that the statement posted on the Dynamo website was written in the first person, and they named its author – one of the most famous Russian volleyball players, world champion and three-time European champion Elena Godina, who played for the Moscow team for many years club. Now she works in its structure, being an adviser to the general director. Its authorship has not been officially confirmed.

The vast majority of commentators on the Dynamo website sharply condemned the publication of the statement.

In Russia there is a legal ban on the so-called propaganda of LGBT relationships. In November 2023, the Supreme Court recognized the LGBT movement as an extremist organization, which allows people accused of involvement in LGBT+ activism to be prosecuted.
