In Copenhagen, the historic stock exchange building, one of the most famous buildings in the Danish capital, caught fire. How writes Reuters, a spire collapsed as a result of the fire.

There have been no reports of injuries yet, police said. It is currently unknown what caused the fire.

Video from the scene shows people carrying large paintings from the building to save historical artifacts from the fire, writes Reuters.

“Terrible photos from the stock exchange this morning. 400 years of Danish cultural heritage in flames,” Danish Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt wrote on social media X.

The building, which was commissioned by King Christian IV between 1619 and 1640, was under reconstruction. The exchange building is located in the city center next to the Danish Parliament and Christiansborg Palace.
