Masters champion Scottie Scheffler arrives at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina to play just three days after his Augusta triumph – leaving heavily pregnant wife Meredith at home again

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler has arrived at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina to tee it up again on the PGA Tour just three days after his Augusta triumph.

It means the world No. 1 has again left his heavily pregnant wife Meredith at their home in Texas. She is due to give birth at any moment.

Scheffler was incredibly emotional after his second Masters win on Sunday as he dashed to quickly get home to his childhood sweetheart, who is pregnant with their first child.

‘I’m coming home; I’ll be home as quick as I can,’ Scheffler said when asked if he had a message for his wife. ‘I love you and I’m coming home.’

But now he’s back to the grind of the PGA Tour and will play at Harbour Town this week in one of the tour’s flagship competitions.

He will renew his rivalry with his closest Masters rivals Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa, as well as the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland.

Footage posted by the PGA Tour on Wednesday showed Scheffler joking around with Justin Thomas before he unleashed a booming drive down the fairway.

Scheffler repeatedly insisted last week that he would leave The Masters – even if he was in the lead – if Meredith went into labor.

Fortunately, that never happened and Scottie won his second major tournament and collected the over $3million cash prize that went along with it.

Scheffler was almost brought to tears inside Butler Cabin on Sunday as he discussed his victory the imminent arrival of his first child.

‘I definitely will enjoy the birth of my first child, and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will be fourth in line, but I still love competing,’ he said.

‘I don’t plan on taking my eye off the ball any time soon.’

He added: ‘I wish I could soak this in a little bit more, but all I can think about is getting home. You’re about to make me cry here in Butler Cabin. It’s a very, very special time for both of us.

‘I can’t put into words what it means to win this tournament again and really can’t put into words what it’s going to be like to be a father for the first time.

‘Looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith, it’s been a long week without her.’

Scheffler married Meredith, his high-school sweetheart, in 2020, with the couple expecting their first child any day now.

On Saturday, he revealed that he was ‘ready to go at a moment’s notice’ if Meredith were to go into labor or have any complications with her pregnancy.

He even found away to stay connected to Meredith despite Augusta’s no phones policy.

‘We have somebody here that has access to their cell phone,’ he said on Saturday. ‘We have open lines of communication, and she can get hold of me if she needs to.

‘And yes, I’ll be available to go home whenever I need to.’

Scheffler hopped on a private jet to head back home to his native Texas but was later spotted out at a dive bar in Dallas celebrating his victory.

Now, it’s not clear if Scottie did make a quick stop at home before heading out to celebrate, but there are a number of pictures of him from this bar that made the rounds on social media.

That included snaps of him wearing the iconic Green Jacket while standing next to a number of people at Inwood Tavern.
