The death toll from the Russian missile attack on Chernigov on Wednesday morning has risen to 18. 78 people were injured, including four children. 37 wounded remain in hospitals. Three people were rescued from the rubble. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports this.

Rescue operations continue. More than 70% of the destroyed part of the building has been dismantled, the department added.

On Wednesday morning, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Chernigov, in northern Ukraine. By data the head of the Chernigov regional military administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, three missiles, presumably Iskander, were fired at the city center.

Under attack according to the acting mayor of the city Alexander Lomako, social infrastructure objects were included. By data Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Kuleba, “an eight-story building was destroyed, four high-rise buildings, a hospital, a higher education institution, and dozens of cars were damaged.”

Russia has still not commented on the attack on Chernigov, which resulted in the destruction of a building in the city center.

Claims appeared in pro-war telegram channels that the attack was carried out on a hotel where military personnel were staying. There is no evidence of this.

The city of Chernigov is located in northern Ukraine, far from the front line. The Russian military failed to take it during the offensive in February–March 2022, and then retreated from the city. Since then, it has been the target of missile attacks several times.
