Floods submerge 18,000 homes in Russia

Moscow, April 18 / WAM – The spring floods sweeping vast areas of Russia have submerged about 18,000 homes.

The TASS news agency quoted a source in the rescue and emergency services in Russia as saying that by Thursday morning, spring floods had submerged 17,808 residential homes in 210 towns and 175 plots of land belonging to rural homes, and the increase reached more than 1,700 homes within one day, especially in my province. Orenburg and Kurgan.

The source explained that the water flooded 32,593 plots of land belonging to rural homes, which is 1,554 more homes than the previous day, in addition to 95 low-rise bridges and 77 private roads for cars.

Yesterday, the Russian Minister of Emergencies, Alexander Korenkov, announced the preventive evacuation of about 14,000 people, including 2,000 children, due to the floods in Kurgan Province.
