Iran-Israel News: Israeli missiles hit site in Iran, officials say, retaliation for weekend attacks blocked by Iron Dome

ISRAEL– A US official confirmed to ABC News that Israeli missiles hit a site in Iran.

The official could not confirm whether the sites in Syria and Iraq were also attacked.

A U.S. official confirmed to ABC News that Israeli missiles hit a site in Iran, apparent retaliation for Iran’s attack blocked by Iron Dome and its allies on Saturday.

Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel last weekend. Israeli officials said the country’s Iron Dome defense system suffered a major test from Iran’s attack on Saturday, intercepting 99% of the 300 “threats of various types” launched against it.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari, launched 170 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), more than 120 ballistic missiles and more than 30 cruise missiles in the attack.

Hagari said that “99% of threats launched against Israeli territory were intercepted, a very significant strategic achievement.”

Hagari said the attack resulted in only one known Israeli victim, a 7-year-old girl who was seriously injured when she was hit by shrapnel apparently from an intercepted missile.

This is breaking news. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
